SHIFNAL TOWN FOOTBALL CLUB
1977 saw election to Division one of the West Midlands (Regional) League. Just two years later Shifnal Town won the Divisional title, and were able to improve the club's facilities at the council owned Admirals Park; promotion was then gained to the Premier Division. With back to back Premier Division Championships following in 1981/82, promotion to the Southern League was only denied due to the lack of floodlights.

1982/3 season saw Shifnal Town's best ever F.A. Cup run, when their giant killing exploits took them in to the fourth qualifying round, where a 4 – 1 defeat at Boston United (Alliance Premier League) prevented further progress in the competition. The same season also saw Shifnal Town pull off a shock victory over Boston's divisional colleagues Telford United in the Shropshire Senior Cup, to set up a meeting with Shrewsbury Town, who lifted the cup following a narrow 1 – 0 success.

Sadly 1985 was to bring catastrophic news to the club with the sale of the land on which stood Admirals Park. The club had no alternative but to resign from the West Midlands (Regional) League. Club officials were determined to see the club rise again. Back in the Shropshire County League and to their old stomping ground at Idsall School, the club purchased 5.5 acres of land to construct and develop what is now the present day Phoenix Park Stadium. As work continued on the new facilities, the club re-emerged as a playing force, twice lifting the County League Premier Division Championship Cup, as well as the J.W. Hunt Cup in 1993.
