The second period was always going to be an uphill struggle, although there was a glimmer of hope that Town could maybe salvage something from the game on 62 minutes, when a rebound off the referee fell to substitute ADAM CAIN, who hammered the ball past Phil McGing from the edge of the penalty area. However, try as they might, the visitors were unable to break down the home defence again, and as the game went into stoppage time, Vics broke quickly from defence, and Danny Smith crossed for MATT PEARSON to seal a 5-2 victory.
Town’s management triumvirate are going to have to do some serious thinking of ways to stop the flow of goals against, which now stands at 15 after 5 games this month.
